Delightful Belicoso

Smoked: La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor

The baseline La Aroma de Cuba Robusto has been a favorite of mine for quite a while. I recently discovered another delicious LAdC blend/vitola, the Mi Amor Belicoso, a 5.5 x 54 beauty. Not only was it beautiful to look at, but its complex flavors’ interesting transition was beautiful to my taste buds.

The dark San Andres wrapper’s pre-light aroma was pure chocolate. Upon lighting, pepper abounded, making me wonder if it was going to be a real pepper bomb. But, toward the second third, the pepper stepped back significantly. Notes of sweetness, fruit/floral, chocolate, nuttiness, mild pepper, and woodiness intertwined to make its complexity very appealing. The burn and draw were almost perfect (a couple of times the burn line got a little wavy, but it self-corrected quickly). I judged it to be medium-full in strength, leaning more toward full. Body was full, as was smoke production, which was thick and creamy, almost "chewy."

I’m glad I bought 3 of ‘em; I’m looking forward to savoring another one soon.

You'll have to give them a try, leppert. I don't think you will be disappointed. I'd like to get your take on them. :)

The Reserva blend of Ladc is much more on the spicy side. And the Pasion, being a Nicaraguan puro is elegant and incredibly smooth. I hope you get to try all the blends soon. As you know LADC is one of my favorite brands

Excellent. A while back, I picked up 3 La Aroma/San Cristobal '92-95' Rated Assortment samplers. Why 3, you may ask? I've learned, especially with LAdC sticks, that inconsistencies are not all that uncommon. So, I figured that I'd get a better idea of the cigars if I tried more than just one. In each sampler:

1 - La Aroma de Cuba Robusto (5.25 x 54) (I can never have too many of those!) :)

      1 - La Aroma de Cuba Reserva Maximo (5.5 x 54)

      1 - La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Belicoso (5.5 x 54)

      1 - San Cristobal Revelation Legend (6.25 x 52)

      1 - San Cristobal Monumento (7.25 x 49)

I've been wanting to try the LAdC Reserva for some time. I've also been interested in San Cristobal (another beautiful band, IMO) sticks, and am looking forward to giving them a try. Fun stuff!
