Smoked: La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor

The baseline La Aroma de Cuba Robusto has been a favorite of mine for quite a while. I recently discovered another delicious LAdC blend/vitola, the Mi Amor Belicoso, a 5.5 x 54 beauty. Not only was it beautiful to look at, but its complex flavors’ interesting transition was beautiful to my taste buds.

The dark San Andres wrapper’s pre-light aroma was pure chocolate. Upon lighting, pepper abounded, making me wonder if it was going to be a real pepper bomb. But, toward the second third, the pepper stepped back significantly. Notes of sweetness, fruit/floral, chocolate, nuttiness, mild pepper, and woodiness intertwined to make its complexity very appealing. The burn and draw were almost perfect (a couple of times the burn line got a little wavy, but it self-corrected quickly). I judged it to be medium-full in strength, leaning more toward full. Body was full, as was smoke production, which was thick and creamy, almost "chewy."

I’m glad I bought 3 of ‘em; I’m looking forward to savoring another one soon.
