What a difference…

Smoked: La Gran Llave by AJ

About 9 months ago I posted about this stick. If I remember right I grabbed a dozen or so from a smoke shop in Savannah Ga. Always interested in anything AJ. Got them home and meh. The cinnamon notes were to strong…(overpowering) just dominated all the other flavors , but I had a hunch that the blend had potential. Threw them in an acrylic humidor with a Bovida pack and put them in a closet. Checked on them every 90 days or so. That’s the great thing about acrylic humidors once you seal them they are virtually maintenance free. Broke one out this morning and TOUCHDOWN! Enjoyed it with a couple cups of Black Riffle dark roast coffee. If you find a blend that you feel is close, but not quite there… Aging them is the key. Also, I initially threw them in my big humi only to find the heavy cinnamon notes bleeding over to other sticks. 🤙🏻

Nice. I love my acrylic humijar for the same reason. I call it the aging jar

Wow! That's great that aging did the trick.

Little story: A while back, I tried a Romeo by RyJ. Loved it. They got scarce for a while, so I went to my local B&M to find that they had only 1 left, so I overpaid and took it home. Loved it again. Then... I got a whale of a deal on 'em when they became more readily available. What??? They weren't nearly as good as I'd remembered. So, guess what... I have a Sistema tupperdor full of 'em with 62% rh Boveda packs that I'm going to let age for 1 year. Something tells me that'll do the trick, too. 🤞

P.S. BTW, I removed the cellophane sleeves from them, so they're a-layin' in there naked as J-Birds 😳. That ought to help with the aging (or ageing -- either spelling is acceptable 🤷‍♂️) process.

That’s the thing about Cigars and also Wine. Many definitely need to age and are just so so after recently being purchased. Glad you are now enjoying them. You did the smart thing.
