Sinistro Habana Vieja Lancero

Sinistro Habana Vieja Lancero is 7 x 40 featuring Dominican and Nicaraguan aged filler, a 10-year aged Habana binder and a slightly oily 8-year aged Nicaraguan Habano wrapper with tight seams and minimal veins and a pigtail.

Oak, earth, vanilla cream, pepper then cinnamon leap out of the rest of the spice notes. There are faint hints of coffee and chocolate in the mix by the second third. During the final third there one puff of cherry. I wouldn’t call it devoid of flavors, but it’s rather pedestrian, lacking an array that would add some complexity and more enjoyment to the smoke. It clocks in at medium in body and strength.

Decent draw that did need a couple of toothpick pokes to open up, shaggy foot produced a very uneven burn at the start, straightened out a bit as the first third progressed, rather faint wisps of smoke, and grey ash that was flaky yet somehow held pretty well until tapped off.

The Sinistro Habana Viejo Lancero is a marginal cigar. I kept waiting for more flavors to emergy but it was kind of flat throughout. Not enough going for it in the flavor profile for my taste. It really could use more notes, better balance and some complexity. This is the definition of a 3 in the Cigar World scoring column.
