Rocky Patel Black Label Toro

This one surprised me. I grabbed a stick out of the humidor and went to meet a buddy. Upon looking at the stick I grabbed, I saw this Black Label instead of the cigar I was expecting.

As a budget-friendly, plus-one-in-a-sampler kind of smoke, I wasn't expecting much and, to be honest, kind of cringed.

Au contraire. I shouldn't have rushed to judgement. It was a smooth smoke. It had a dynamic feel too it with the strength and flavor notes. For the strength, it smoked like a full cigar like you could tell it was a full cigar but it didn't feel like a full cigar but you knew it was a full cigar. For flavor, it transitioned from lighter notes to dark notes and had a hint of sweetness that disguised itself as smoothness. No bite or cringe-worthy moments at all.

The draw was good and it was a one-light and smoke kind of night. I did have the top start to fall apart on me but I think it had to do with the way I cut it so I can't fault anyone but me for that.

So in the end, it was a surprisingly good smoke that I would definitely smoke again. Next time, when I look down and see that Black Label looking back, I think it's going to give me a wink.
