Good morning all, the coffee has been on since 0420 and it's already "Hump Day". I see that the NY Rangers dropped another one last night, lets go fellas and turn things around. We got all the yard work done yesterday and all we have to do today is put a spatchcock chicken on the smoker and enjoy a few cold ones and a couple of primo stogies. I spent this past weekend in Massachusetts with long time friends and with my high school class mates celebrating out 50th class reunion. We had a great time reminiscing and enjoying each others company. Unfortunately while being there, the Yankees got swept by the Red Sox in Boston and everyone rubbed it in. The Yankees game yesterday got postponed until September 22nd but today's game is still planning to start on time. The NASCAR drivers are ready to start at 6 PM (1800), fingers crossed the weather holds up for the green flag. Today, the Sons of the American Legion at Post 1796 are hosting a Memorial Day Brunch which is open to the public. Always a good time and a great meal for all to enjoy. I'm sure that most of you have heard that NASCAR racer Kyle Busch past away yesterday at the age of 41. Way too young to go especially with his his talents and all. It'll be a solemn weekend in the NASCAR Nation and I'm sure there will be a huge dedication to him prior to the Coca-Cola 600 this Sunday in Charlotte, NC. The Yankees lost yesterday 2 - 0 and will be taking on Tampa this weekend, hopefully they put up a number of "W"s. We got a busy weekend starting with the Maifest at the German Club in Poughkeepsie, NY where we will donate some time this afternoon. Saturday, we are going to the Renegades baseball game were it's Veteran's Appreciation Day. Sunday, I am the MC for the Memorial Day Ceremony in the morning and then we have the Parade starting at 1400 (2 PM) followed up with the after party at The American Legion. The Yankees takes on the Mets this weekend and the NASCAR drivers are in Dover, DE for the All Star weekend. I see that the Yankees got skunked last night, let's go fellas and turn things around today. The NASCAR drivers are in Watkins Glen, NY this weekend road racing which is always a fun one to watch. Beth and I will be going to a couple of local places to see what our choices are this year for vegetable / flowering plants for the gardens. We are also going shopping for new outdoor ornaments / fixtures as some of the ones we currently have need replacing. We have a busy day at the American Legion in New Windsor, NY as we're hosting our semi-annual Legion Special fundraiser. It's always the first Sunday in May as well as the first Sunday in November. We sell 400 tickets which includes a buffet dinner and open bar. 5 people win $500, 5 people win $1000, and the grand prize winner gets $15,000. We do a 50/50 which is huge and there are gift baskets being raffled off along with a very nice basket of cheer. It's always a big hit and well attended for sure. Congrats to the Yankees on another win and if you missed the Kentucky Derby yesterday, it was a great finish for the books. We had a great weekend overall, the open house at the Legion worked out and yesterday was a relaxing Sunday Funday as always. The Yankees took 2 out of 3 in Houston and now they take on the Texas Rangers in Arlington for a 3 game series.
