Crux Passport Super Selection No. 2

Crux Passport Super Selection No. 2 uses Nicaraguan and Honduran filler, a Nicaraguan Jalapa binder and is covered in a silky oily Ecuador Habano wrapper with barely visible bumps we’ll cound as veins and not a seam in sight. The single band is white on blue with the Crux name and the logo beneath in gold on blue with the word “Passport.” The blend is an update of the original Passport recipe from 2014.

Not much of a flavor profile – all I’m tasting is wood, earth and perhaps some coffee. This is definitely not the original Passport, although it has been many years since I smoke that stick. I’m getting nothing from this cigar.

And here is the likely culprit – awful construction starting with a stubbornly tight draw, minimal smoke output, uneven burn line, tough to draw much smoke, the ash was light and flaky. I suspect there are more flavors in this blend. I just can’t draw them out.

I’m in a slump. Two awful cigars in a row. I am truly disappointed. I have been a fan of Cruz for some time. Crux Bull & Bear and Epicure Maduro are my two favorite Crux cigars. This Cruz? Less than Meh. A third into it, I gave up and tossed it in the ashtray.

On the plus side - the bourbon was quite good.
