Crux Marblehead Toro

Smoked: Crux Marblehead Toro

Crux Marblehead Toro looks kind of like a torpedo – a toro with a rounded tapered cap. The filler is a Nicaraguan blend as is the binder. The cigar is covered in a dark slightly oily Ecuador Habano wrapper with a few veins.

Oak, earthy leather, cream, mixed nuts, nutmeg, honey, graham crackers, and doughy bread flavors open up with hints of rye, pepper and herbs by the second third. Caught a puff of caramel during the second third as well. Overall, it’s a dark wood and nutty-driven taste. It’s medium-full bodied with some strength to it.

It is decently constructed – generous smoke output, ash held well, but the burn line was erratic.

I’ve enjoyed a number of Crux offering. The Marblehead was reasonably so, but not a standard bearer for the brand. The Bull & Bear and Epicure are still my favorites. I give the Crux Marblehead a 3.
