Caldwell Lost & Found Silent Shout

The Caldwell Lost & Found Silent Shout maduro robust was a very pleasant surprise. It’s part of the adventure.

The draw on the pre-light seemed a little tight. But once I fired it up the draw was excellent. The burn line remained consistent. White ash that held tight. Smoke output was a bit minimal. but that had no effect on my enjoyment of the cigar. The burn line is near perfect through the last inch or so of the smoke.

The flavors were terrific – cream, chocolate, coffee, earth, hints of leather, and just enough pepper to balance it all and give it a little kick. Some cereal like notes and additional sweetness hits during the second third with occasional notes of cherry. The coffee and chocolate combine for a mocha latte taste at times.

The retrohale is very mild. Yes, there is pepper but it disappears quickly so you do get the aromatic sense of the wood, leather and earth as well.

Silent Shout is Smooth as silk, well balanced with more than enough flavors to keep things interesting. The strength never gets out of control. No nic buzz whatsoever down to the nub.

Reminds me of the La Palina Black Label I smoked last week. That was also an unexpected surprise. Silent Shout is a very nice Lost & Found find. This is one of Caldwell’s best in the Lost & Found series.

One footnote: Caldwell’s Lost & Founds can be inconsistent from cigar to cigar in the same series. I will try the Silent Shout again in a few months and see if it tastes the same. I should probably do the same with Lost & Founds I did not like on my first reviews. Maybe I’ll be surprised to find the inconsistency works both ways.
