Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature

Smoked: Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature

The Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature is held in rather high esteem by the cigar crowd, especially a number of close friends. So I thought it was time to join the club. Taking it out of the cellophone, I find a smooth, light brown wrapper with two large veins. The cigar features a narrowed foot. It’s a medium body, medium strength stick.

Construction: Perfect draw, decent burn line, a little wavy requiring two short touchups, ash held firmly - light smoke production.

It’s peppery at the beginning and more an array of spice by the last third. It’s heavy on the wood and leather notes throughout. There are some nut, raisins, grassy notes, cream and honey flavors as well, but they are very much in the background. Overall, this cigar is a one-trick pony flavor-wise – little complexity and virtually no transitions.

This is a decent cigar, but I was hardly knocked out by it – much to the chagrin of several friends who boast of the Hemingway sticks. They’ve all said I should try the maduro. And so I shall, at a later date. To sum it up, I was not impressed by this Fuente.
