Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 Anniversary Flor Fina CC is a Candela/Double Claro. The Candela was the cigar of choice in the early 20th Century, so I’ve been told. So we’re going Old School. I can imagine a night club in the 1940s with art deco, smoking candelas with a martini enjoying a big band/swing band playing on stage.

This is my second foray into world of candelas. Unlike the first – a Baccarat – I am tasting more flavor notes including cedar, cashews & walnuts, spice, pepper, cream, cocoa and a backdrop of cherries and very mild coffee. Much like the Baccarat, it is mild bodied, sweet, smooth and creamy with foreground notes of hay, fresh cut lawn clippings, vegetal notes, herbal tea and earthy leather.

This is a very mild bodied stick. It’s not Connecticut shade mild – a whole different animal. I like the Candela.
