My Father Cigars will soon be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial line with a limited edition that is slated to arrive in stores in early November.

The company has not yet formally announced the details, but a report by Cigar Aficionado indicates that like many of the company’s limited editions, it is a 6 1/2 x 52 toro. The blend is said to be similar to that of the core line, meaning a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler, though the limited edition adds some pelo de oro tobacco grown on the Garcia’s family farms.

The cigar is reported to be priced at $20, before taxes, and offered in 16-count boxes, with 2,500 boxes produced at the My Father Cigars S.A. factory in Estelí.

he Garcia family is celebrating a 10-year milestone with the release of a limited-edition smoke. Called Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial 10th Anniversary Limited Edition 2019, the 6 1/2 inch by 52 ring gauge Toro commemorates the initial release of the Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial, a brand that debuted in 2009. Rolled with a tobacco not found in the regular-production version of the brand, the new cigar should be shipping to retailers November 1.

Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial 10th Anniversary is covered in a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. The cigar is billed as full-bodied by the company, and unlike the original Reserva Especial, the 10th Anniversary contains Pelo d'Oro tobacco in the filler, a varietal that’s known for its strength and sweetness. It’s also considered to be a challenging, low-yield tobacco for farmers to grow, due to its susceptibility to disease.

Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial 10th Anniversary Limited Edition 2019
The binder and filler tobacco in the cigar (including the Pelo d'Oro) is grown on the Garcia family farms in Nicaragua. Set to retail for $20 each before taxes, the 10th Anniversary Toro comes packaged 16 cigars per box. Only 2,500 boxes will be released.

Made at the My Father Cigars factory in Nicaragua, the Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial is named after Jaime Garcia—the son behind the father, son and daughter team at My Father Cigars. The cigar soft-launched at a special event in December 2009 at Cigar Inn (now called Casa de Montecristo by Cigar Inn) in New York City. The cigar shipped nationwide the following year.
