General Cigar Company has opened a new lounge at the General Cigar Factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Called the “Smoking Lounge”, the new space opened to both the public and the General Cigar smoking panel in October 2024. 

Francisco A. Batista, Head of Manufacturing Americas for Scandinavian Tobacco Group, said, “For a long time, we dreamed of creating a place where both our smoking panel and customers could enjoy meetings and smoking sessions in an atmosphere that highlights the best of our tobacco industry. We hope that everyone who visits finds in it a place of inspiration and pleasure, a tribute to the culture of cigars and the community that makes it possible".

General Cigar Co. is a subsidiary of Scandinavian Tobacco Group, which owns cigar brands like Macanudo, CAO, Cohiba, and Punch.  

The Smoking Lounge Features & Details

The new Smoking Lounge boasts a classic look, including floors decorated in Spanish ceramics and cedar-lined walls, which bring natural warmth to the space while also improving acoustics and smoking experiences. 

 

In addition, the Smoking Lounge features the following amenities: 

  • An intelligent climate control system, capable of optimally managing air flows to preserve the freshness of the environment.

  • A Macanudo rolling table, which allows visitors to observe the meticulous process of cigar creation.

  • A library of the most iconic tobaccos used at General Cigar.
