The newest Crowned Heads cigar is actually one of the company’s first blends.
Later this year, the company will release the Four Kicks Capa Especial, a cigar that was one of the test blends developed when the company was working on its first cigar, Four Kicks. According to Cigar Aficionado, there were three different blends that Crowned Heads was considering for Four Kicks, two were habano and one Sumatra. Jon Huber and Mike Conder, the company’s co-founders, liked the habano blends. Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr., whose Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. factory makes Four Kicks, liked the Sumatra.
The company went with one of the habano blends, but now the Sumatra blend will come out as Four Kicks Capa Especial.
The cigar uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. For context, the original Four Kicks uses an all Nicaraguan filler blend.
It will be offered in four sizes:
Four Kicks Capa Especial Robusto (5 x 50) — $9.35 (Box of 24, $224.40)
Four Kicks Capa Especial Corona Gorda (5 5/8 x 46) — $8.65 (Box of 24, $207.60)
Four Kicks Capa Especial Sublime (6 x 54) — $9.95 (Box of 24, $238.80)
The fourth size will be available only to retailers who attend the PCA Convention & Trade Show, scheduled for July 11-14 in Las Vegas, and has not yet been announce
