Brooklyn based urban artists Mike Baca (2ESAE) and Fernando Romero (SKI) are part of a collective known as UR NY. The duo began making custom artwork for Davidoff under the Zino Platinum portfolio. This is the 2019 version of their annual limited edition. It is a 7 x 52 torpedo that uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over a Connecticut binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. It retails for $15 and it is limited to 2,500 canisters of 12 cigars. Those canisters are designed to look like spray paint cans to reflect the artists’ main medium: graffiti. Most of these cigars sold at a release event at the Davidoff store in Brooklyn. This is the only cigar in your box you may be able to find at other online retailers but not for long. They made 30,000 of these total. We bought 10,000 of them…so…yea..they won’t be around for long! I was always shocked that Davidoff, an ultra traditional company, would collaborate with two graffiti artists from Brooklyn. But that’s a testament to the brand’s ability to surprise us every now and then. What a beautiful cigar. I wish you could see it in the canisters they come in. Either way it is very photogenic between the band, the shape and the color of the wrapper. Money cannot buy a much nicer Connecticut Shade wrapper and it’s a good representation of a good Connecticut shade wrapped cigar. Glamorous, luxurious and now cool. Let’s see if the Brooklyn artists chose the right blend.
