CAO Amazon Basin returns

One of the most exotic cigars on the market is set for a return to shelves in 2022. CAO has recently announced the limited re-release of Amazon Basin. The first version of Amazon Basin was released in 2014, and it has spawned several offshoot releases called Fuma Em Corda, Orellana, and Anaconda.

The most distinctive feature of CAO Amazon Basin is undoubtedly the rare Braganca tobacco used in the filler. This special tobacco is grown deep within a remote region of the Amazon rainforest in unspoiled tropical soil. What’s more, it’s only harvested once every three years, and even then, in smaller quantities than a “typical” yield from a tobacco plant. The Braganca tobacco then undergoes a further six months of fermentation before it is transported via canoe out of the depths of the Amazon rainforest before eventually reaching the STG Estelí factory in Nicaragua. 

In addition to the Braganca tobacco, Amazon Basin contains filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Colombia. The cigar possesses a Nicaraguan Binder and an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. In lieu of a traditional paper band, Amazon Basin boasts several rope-like strips of tobacco across its surface.

CAO Amazon Basin is slated for a limited release. It is available in only one size –– 6 x 52 –– and only 6,000 boxes have been designated for the US market. Amazon Basin comes packaged in a classic wooden box with 18 cigars. Individual SRP per cigar is $12.99.
