Not my Excalibur

Smoked: Hoyo de Monterrey

Have to say that it is probably my pallet. Still haven’t found a Hoyo I like. Much like the Rocky Patels I just can’t find a taste that I like. This one was the Excalibur and I had trouble smoking it during my round. For those thinking it was the golf throwing it off, it wasn’t. I don’t golf without a cigar and most of the time I do well. This one had a burnt taste that was not in my wheelhouse. It was like a bitter beer face when I was taking it in. Sorry. For those that may enjoy it but it was a big miss for me.

Check out their “La Amistad” series. A collaboration with AJ Fernandez at the wheel. I’m a Habano Hound, so I naturally grabbed a stick of the “Silver”. Great Price point for a stick that delicious!

I definitely know your sentiment, brother. It's interesting how we all have different tastes/preferences. The Rocky Patel Sun Grown robusto is my favorite cigar in my rotation. However, some of Rocky's sticks are, IMO, simply awful -- like the Decade, and some of the The Edge varieties. And, I've found that ratings from major publications don't necessarily align with my own personal ratings. I hope you find a Hoyo that you like. :)
