ANY TIPS ON TASTING/HINTS FROM A CIGAR

Hello all. New to the cigar world. For I have smoked a lot of cigars from cheap $2.00 to $20.00 cigars. I have not took the next step and enjoy them even more.. I of course no longer smoke a cheap cigar but I see a lot of people pointing out hints/notes taste out of cigars.. Sometime I think I can taste cedar or something like that but not like all the others I have seen getting hints of butter, leather, fruits, wood, earth, ect. Is there something I should be doing or how do I pick out the notes?...\Thanks in advance to all that respond..

I’ve found out that a breath mint or tooth brushing before lighting a cigar will clean my palate and allow all the taste notes to be intensified

A cold draw will begin to reveal notes. As you toast the foot smell the smoke to start discovering notes. As you smoke, see if you detect tasting differences, usually in thirds. Pass the smoke through your nose - smell is part of the tasting process. Use other people's tasting notes as a reference. Lastly, practice makes perfect. Enjoy your new hobby!

First, not everyone can pick out particulars in cigars. Having said that, you can learn to pick out flavor like nuances in any cigar

When people say this and that, most are saying they pick up notes “like” wood chocolate earth, what ever

They’re subtle not in your face flavors

The only one I’ve ever known that u pick up instantly is spice

All else are subtleties. Before small king make sure you pallet is clean

Take a full mouth load and move it around in your mouth then slowly release it

Some smoke will sneak up your nose and that will expose more subtle notes

What I did to start noticing the notes was to find a flavor wheel that people make and hang onto that as you smoke it and think about it. Once I did that and took the time to think I started to notice the notes.

    Hello Sea Ray,

So glad to hear you are not smoking the low or very low budget cigars although there are some very well worth which in most cases are hit and mis type besides many other issues. So sounds like you found the middle ones which taste and much better many times than the higher end ones in most cases but have you learned the retro-hale smoking best and tasting experience? Also moving the smoke around in your mouth since the tofu güey and the palate are the ones to do the tasting with the tongue as well mix with very bit of saliva? It also takes practice on doing the not full inhale and just hold smoke in mouth move around and push with lungs just a tad bit while blowing smoke out with lungs through nostrils but just a bit of it until you become more a-costumed to it. In the news and or events there is also a page of ash cutting lighting etc etc oh and of course an article of all including the tasting one.
