Rojas Bluebonnets Robusto

Smoked: Rojas Bluebonnets Robusto

Rojas Bluebonnets Robusto is another Noel Rojas creation with Nicaraguan and Ecuadoran tobacco – all corojo filler, binder and a light sandpaper feel wrapper with hardly a seam or vein in plain sight. The primary band is a gold on black oval with the Rojas logo. The secondary is a super thin blue band stating “Bluebonnets.” Being a longtime fan of Punch Rare Corojo I had to give this cigar a try.

Cedar, earth, light nuttiness - walnuts & hazelnuts, bread, cocoa, coffee, creamy vanilla & caramel notes, and spice/pepper. There is a fragrant sweetness to this cigar. It’s sugary sweet like frosting on a cake. The bread notes even hint of King’s Hawaiian Roll sweetness.

By the second third you can vaguely taste additional notes of graham crackers, hay, leather, citrus and orchard fruit. Final third the wood, coffee and walnuts dominate with a touch of floral, vegetal and licorice sneaking in. There’s a lot going on here. The flavors are balanced with subtle additions and transitions and more than enough complexity. It’s medium bodied and strength start to finish. I like this cigar.

The construction is top notch - open draw with just enough resistance, solid smoke production, light & dark grey ash stacked up holding firm, and an impressively even burn line.

I like this cigar! I said that already – just sans the exclamation point.

I really enjoy the Street Tacos - Carnitas and Breakfast Tacos. I took a chance and bought Rojas’ 10th anniversary box and really did not like them. I saw the Bluebonnets on famous smoke but just wasn’t sure - sounds like I should give them a try.

Enjoyed the Carnitas and Street Tacos. Have a Breakfast Tacos percolating in the humidor. Wasn't all that thrilled with the Standard Lancero.
