My Father Flor de las Antillas is a Nicaraguan puro covered with a rustic, mottled Sun Grown wrapper.
Cedar, spice, cream, chocolate, light coffee, and puffs of mixed nuts and hints of bread/toast. The flavors held steady through the final third with and only a slight transition from milk to dark chocolate notes and added pepper, yet it is complex and balanced. I would expect nothing less from a My Father cigar. It’s in the medium to medium-full bodied range.
Reasonably good draw that did open more with a short toothpick poke, crooked burn line that required a couple of touchups, firm grey ash held to almost an inch, and solid smoke output.
My Father Flor de las Antillas is an enjoyable medium-full-bodied cigar. The comparisons with the La Antiguedad have been made since the latter was release. The two are similar yet unique. La Antiguedad is a bolder, more robust version of the Flor de las Antillas. They are both very fine cigars. Flor de Las Antillas was Cigar Aficionado’s Cigar of the Year when it was released…with good reason.
