Man O War Valkyrie

Smoked: Man O War Valkyrie

Man O War Valkyrie Connecticut is an AJ Fernandez blend of Nicaraguan filler and binder and covered in a blondish brown Ecuador Connecticut wrapper. AJ claims the Ecuadoran wrapper tobacco is called Desflorado. A mis-lyriced Eagles song is playing in my head. The tobacco leaves above those used are expoed to more sunlight. How that is different from Sun Grown is above my pay grade. The band is badass – as are all the Man O War bands. Silver, dark blue, gold and white with a Norse Vakkyrie emblem.

Cedar, mild pepper spice, cashews, buttery, coffee, cream with a vanilla sweetness. The flavor profile is fairly typical Connecticut shade flavors but amped up as AJ often seems to do with his blends. Flavorful, smooth and mellow – until you get to the retorhale. Too many twists on the peppermill, garcon.

Construction: Perfect open draw, spot on dead even burn line start to finish, generous smoke production, light grey ash that did fall off twice.

Men O War Valkerie is one righteous Connecticut shade choice to pair with morning coffee. Kudos again, AJ!

Big fan of the Ruination here — it’s easily in my top 3. Super clean ash, velvety in the hand, and bold without being overpowering. Just a really polished, well-balanced cigar. I’ve had a lot of AJ Fernandez blends, and this one feels like a standout even in that crowd. If you haven’t tried it in the box-pressed perfecto format, that shape just takes it to another level.

Enjoy the Ruination as well. I've smoked very few AJs that I didn't like.
