Caldwell Lost & Found Buck 15 Navarette

Smoked: Caldwell Lost & Found Buck 15 Navarette

Caldwell Lost & Found Buck 15 Navarette is another of Robert Caldwell’s “discoveries” during his Indiana Jones-like adventures in search of the hidden holy bales. I hadn’t reviewed one – or even smoked one – in quite some time. It caught my attention in the humidor, so I decided to get reacquainted. -

Flavor profile: well-aged tobacco with vegetal and some slate, grass/hay, floral, earthy, leather, mixed nuts, mild pepper, a touch of spice – generally fairly toned-down flavors, none of which overpower the others making for good complexity. I recall some bitter notes while smoking the Buck 15 for my first review. Fortunately, that never happened during this smoke.

Long white ash that held to well over an inch before tapping off, reasonable smoke production, slightly tight draw, and a fairly even burn line. This is much improved construction compared to the first Buck 15 I reviewed.

Like the first, the flavor of the well-aged tobacco makes this Caldwell Buck 15 Navarette a hit with my palate. I’m a fan of Caldwell’s Lost & Founds. Well, some Lost & Founds. They’re like the little girl in the Longfellow poem. When they’re good, they’re very good. But when they’re bad they’re horrible. Not always. Some are just average. The Buck 15 Navarette scores in the former category. I like this cigar a lot.
