Blackbird Rook includes Nicaraguan & Dominican filler, a Habano binder and a Colorado Sumatra wrapper with slightly visible veins and one very visible aorta running through it.
The band is silver on black featuring “Blackbird Cigar Co.” written with the blackbird logo in the corner along with “Rook” in black cursive written sideways on a blue background.
Cedar, pepper, mixed nuts, cream, cinnamon (maybe nutmeg or honey), The flavors though minimal pop with each puff. By the second third, the mixed nuts include hazelnuts and Brazil nut notes. The spices elevate beyond the pepper during the end of the second third. Good balance with some complexity. It’s medium-mild bodied, medium strength
Very nice open draw, somewhat even burn line, copious amounts of smoke, and white grey ash that held well until effortlessly tapped off.
I’m finding the Blackbirds to be well blended, well-constructed, balanced and quite appealing even when the flavor lineup could otherwise use a few more notes in the ensemble. They just seem to work well together. Chalk up Blackbird Rook as an enjoyable mild-medium-mild stick.
