Riviera Robusto

I wanted a good smoke for the night. The power went out from the last storm and I was going to kill some time on the back porch and wanted something I could really appreciate. I paired it with a high proof rye that in hindsight I would probably dial it back to something less potent or even a coffee pairing .

The burn and construction was A+ and really makes a good cigar better when you don't have to worry about the other stuff.

As I said, it smoked more Medium for me and hit the leathery notes with other flavors dancing through from time to time: coffee, chocolate, spice (and everything nice). A good smoke that you can appreciate and see why people like it.

When I went back inside, my wife asked how the cigar was. I gave her a similar rundown and she asked why I thought something tasting like leather would be good. I think she was imagining me chewing on an old wallet or belt but I said it more like a supple leather.

Wife: I still can't imagine something 'leathery' tasting good

Me: (after thinking for a moment) Well, imagine if you had a leather bikini on, that is something I would like to get close to

Wife: yeah, but you would have it in your mouth... (pause)

Me: (Smile)

Wife: (gave me the finger as she walked away) You stink, take a shower
