Fishing is an ideal activity for smoking a premium cigar. It’s relaxing, outdoors, and can be enjoyed alone or with friends. To be fair, you can’t really pick a “bad” cigar to take fishing with you –– just about any will do! However, if you want to take your fishing trips to the next level, or you’re simply looking for some quality cigar recommendations, you’ve come to the right place. Here are some of our favorite cigars for fishing.

Perla del Mar Shade

Things to love about Perla del Mar Shade: 1) J.C. Newman makes it. 2) it has a silky and delicious Connecticut shade wrapper. 3) It’s highly rated. And, oh yeah, 4) it means “Pearl of the Sea” in Spanish. Bottom line: this is an excellent cigar for any fishing excursion.

Mark Twain Riverboat

Sure, deep-sea fishing is always exciting, but for a relaxing afternoon on the river, you could do much worse than the Mark Twain Riverboat Barberpole. Twain (Samuel Clemens) famously loved cigars –– particularly cheap ones –– so it’s no surprise that the smokes that now bear his name are both tasty and budget-friendly.

Punch Signature

Ah, the beloved Punch Signature. With its rich Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper and full-bodied flavor, this stick is a winner on land or at sea. Grab a box and then check out this video series from Punch that’ll show you how to fish –– and smoke –– like a pro.

Drew Estate MUWAT Kentucky Fire Cured

The MUWAT Kentucky Fire Cured is, much like Drew Estate in general, a bit off the wall. However, while its process may be unique and its branding unconventional, this is a fantastic smoke for any outdoor activity, especially fishing.

Macanudo Gold Label

Fishing requires patience. To have a successful fishing trip, you might need to spend a whole day on the water. As such, you’ll probably want a cigar that’s mellow and easy to enjoy. You know, just in case you want to have two or three throughout the day. Enter Macanudo Gold Label. This Connecticut Shade classic is a delightful smoke that’s much more approachable than your average cigar. Give it a whirl on your next fishing trip; we bet you’ll be pleased with the results.
