Cigar World Deep Dive: The Historic Partnership of Macanudo and Myers’s Rum
Few brands have the reach and broad appeal of Macanudo. Indeed, Macanudo Cigars have become famous the world over for their approachable flavor profiles and dependable construction. And, this year, the brand partnered with a legendary brand from a different industry, but with similar origins: Myers’s Rum.
Introducing M by Macanduo Myers’s Rum
This year, Macanudo Cigars and Myers’s Rum partnered to create a truly unique cigar. The new cigar is a part of the beloved “M” series — a line of cigars known for quality tobacco and infused flavors.
M by Macanudo Myers’s Rum features an Indonesian wrapper along with Dominican binder and filler tobaccos. What’s more, it is infused with Myers’s Rum, and thus offers warm, aromatic notes of oak, fruit, and a general sweetness.
"Myers’s Rum is one of the most recognizable names associated with Jamaica, and its rich flavor profile made it a natural inspiration for this release,” said Matt Wilson, Senior Brand Manager for Macanudo. “With M by Macanudo Myers’s Rum, we wanted to create a cigar that celebrates the shared heritage of both brands while delivering a smooth and flavorful smoking experience.”
A Shared Origin
While Macanudo Cigars is no longer headquartered there, the brand began in Jamaica during the 1960s. At the time, the cigar pioneer Edgar Cullman picked up an old brand first developed during World War II and created the iconic “Macanudo,” which still operates today.
Over the years, Macanudo became renowned for its development of golden Connecticut Shade tobacco — a variety that delivers smooth and creamy smoking experiences.
Myers’s Rum, on the other hand, was founded in 1879 by — you guessed it — the Myers’s family. Myers’s has since gained acclaim for using pure Jamaican molasses to distill their rum, and the iconic aroma, color, and taste that result from their traditional distillation process.
Today, Myers’s offers a selection of classic rum varieties, ranging from Original Dark to the indulgent Cask Collection.

M by Macanudo Myers’s Rum is offered in a Robusto (5 x 50) vitola. The cigar has a suggested retail price of $9.89 per cigar. And it is available in stores now.
