Fruit may not be the most obvious or noticeable cigar tasting note. Indeed, cigars with fruit tasting notes often include other, more obvious tasting notes. So it could take new smokers a while to pick up on subtle fruit tasting notes. Though fruit tasting notes tend to be muted, they offer a satisfying change of pace to heavier flavor notes like chocolate or cream.
