Black pepper is a powerful cigar tasting note. Typically associated with darker, heavier cigars, black pepper is an easy tasting note to recognize, though, it is best experienced in a balanced and nuanced blend.
Black pepper appears more often in (but is not limited to) darker cigars such as Maduros and Oscuros. Rich, peppery blends may boast lots of spicy flavors such as black pepper and paprika. On the other hand, some cigars merely contain a hint of black pepper within an overall sweeter or creamier smoking experience.
Either way, new smokers should have little trouble picking up black pepper tasting notes in cigars.
