It’s not every day that you encounter a cigar with “bitters” tasting notes. Bitters are alcoholic flavor extracts made for cocktails. Cigars with bitters in their flavor profile typically offer a nuanced smoking experience. Flavors associated with bitters cigars include herbs, floral notes, spices, and earth. Of course, bitters themselves can also contain notes of citrus, vanilla, chocolate, or any number of other flavor cues.
This may seem obvious, but bitters notes are not necessarily “bitter” whatsoever.
Note that some cigars contain tobacco aged in whiskey, wine, or sherry barrels. In such instances, smokers may notice extremely subtle hints of alcohol within a cigar’s flavor profile.
