Cigar Reviewed: Punch Gran Puro
Smoked at: Alabama
The Punch Grand Puro is one of those cigars that doesn't try to impress you with flash—it just settles in and gets the job done. From the first draw, I picked up plenty of cedar and roasted nuts, followed by a nice earthy backbone that lets you know you're smoking real tobacco. There's a little black pepper to wake things up, but it never gets mean or harsh.
About halfway through, I started getting hints of coffee, toasted bread, and just enough sweetness to keep everything balanced. It's full-flavored without wearing you out, and the smoke is thick enough to chew on. The burn stayed straight, the draw was easy, and I never had to fool with it.
This isn't a fancy "special occasion" cigar. It's the one I'd grab to sit on the porch after mowing the yard, watching a ballgame, or solving the world's problems with a good friend. Honest, dependable, and satisfying. If you enjoy rich, earthy cigars with plenty of cedar and just enough spice to keep things interesting, the Punch Grand Puro is worth keeping in the humidor.
