The one with the Ring

Cigar Reviewed: Macanudo Vintage Maduro 1997 Toro

I hesitate to pass out 5 star ratings - and sometime find it difficult to go below 3 stars... maybe one cigar in my life time was so bad that I have to just toss it instantly. So 1-5 star ratings are tough to do.

This Mac 97' Maduro is the one with the large silver ring (metal cigar holder) attached to each cigar. In this case I had the 5x50 - and it was winner for a maduro. While not my normal cigar this one put out loads of smoke, burned well from start to finish, and met expectations for a Macunudo - which are quite high.

The taste is coffee and some pepper and old oak... rich, lovely creamy. it became sweeter but not by much as the middle of the cigar opened up. I would think the Maduro influence is clear and expected - and was very well within limits.

And upon exit - while most cigars only leave you holding a paper band - when you finish with the 97' you have a heavy full size metal cigar holder - so you never forget her.
