Cigar Reviewed: Macanudo Cru Royale

This was my first Macanudo.

When selecting the cigar, I was suckered into the adjectives and names: Oooh, you call yourself the Cru Royale? Must be better than a normal…right? Cru Royale … Growth Royalty? What if there was a Cru Royale Deluxe 10th Anniversary Signature Aged X … or something? I wouldn’t know what to do with myself.

The color was dark too. It gives that vibe that it may be a good, tasty smoke or it may be like sucking the tailpipe of a V8 pickup. Luckily for me, it was the former.

It was a day smoke while I was watching football and trying to keep my dog from eating my lighter, my television remote or the grass or the chair. And the atmosphere fit the cigar: it was a nice, even, not too this or not too that but equally good and just enough to pass to the time.

The burn was perfect and steady and no re-lights were needed. I enjoyed this cigar.

It may have been my first Macanudo but it won’t be my last. Even if the other cigars in their lineup suck, at least I know I can go back to the Cru Royale for a decent smoke.

Good, Respectable, Worthy, Decent, Proper …
