A Sumatra That Sinatra Would Love

“Like a good Sinatra tune, this cigar didn’t rely on flashy notes or dramatic changes. Instead, it delivered a smooth, consistent performance built around cedar, wood, and earth from first light to the final inch.”

The construction of this cigar was excellent from start to finish. The draw was nearly perfect using a punch cut, producing a generous amount of cool, flavorful smoke. Burn performance was outstanding with a straight burn line throughout the entire smoke, requiring no touch-ups or relights.

From the first few draws, the dominant flavor was cedar, accompanied by a rich woody character that remained consistent throughout the experience. An earthy backbone supported the profile from beginning to end, giving the cigar a medium-bodied feel without becoming overpowering.

Unlike many Sumatra-wrapped cigars, I experienced very little black pepper. Instead, the profile stayed smooth and focused on wood, cedar, and earth with only subtle changes as the cigar progressed. While the flavor profile wasn’t particularly complex, it was balanced and enjoyable.

I paired the cigar with Johnnie Walker Red Label, which complemented the woody notes reasonably well. In hindsight, I believe allowing the cigar to rest in my humidor for a few more days may have helped open up additional sweetness and complexity.

Overall, this was a well-constructed cigar with excellent combustion, an effortless draw, and a flavor profile centered on cedar and earth. I would happily smoke another after giving it a little more time to acclimate in the humidor.
