Smoked: Rocky Patel Disciple Robusto
Smoked at: West Chester, Ohio
Rocky Patel Disciple Robusto is made from Nicaraguan filler, a Nicaraguan binder and cloaked in a dark brown Mexican San Andres wrapper with a touch of oil, narry a seam and slight visible veins. The primary band is brown on gold featuring the Rocky Patel logo and the word “Disciple” in gold on brown in the middle of the band. The cigar also has a brown sleeve that starts just under the primary band and extends the remaining length of the cigar also with the Rocky Patel logo midway and a gold footer. The sleeve is a bit darker brown than the cigar.
Cedar and oak, earth, leather, dark roast coffee, and pepper dominate with background notes of dried fruit, chocolate, hickory, grass/hay, mineral and pepper. I noted a puff of vegetal and licorice. This cigar has a very complex and balanced flavor profile. It really has an array of flavors. It’s medium bodied and medium strength.
This is a well constructed cigar – excellent open draw, dead even burn line, furn white ash that beld to over an inch before tapping off on command, and generous smoke production – likr a Pittsburgh steel plant smokestack before EPA emissions standards.
This is one of the most enjoyable Rocky Patels I have smoked recently. Add this to my RP favorite list with the Vintage 1990 and Sun Grown Maduro.
