Cigar Reviewed: Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Junior
Smoked at: Long Beach, Mississippi
It’s hot and muggy on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. No breeze. Just still, wet air and the kind of heat that makes a long cigar feel like a chore. I grabbed the Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Junior because I didn’t feel like sweating through a Churchill.
It lit clean and burned straight from the start. Cream on the front with a little pepper that hangs on the finish. Nothing bold or flashy, but there’s enough there to keep you interested. For a cigar this size, the draw was right where it should be. No relights. No touchups.
The smoke stayed cool and steady. It didn’t turn bitter or harsh. I took my time with it and still finished around the twenty-minute mark. That was just fine. In this heat, that’s about all I want.
I’d buy it again. Probably a few of them. It’s easy to overlook something this small, but this one earns its spot in the humidor. Good flavor, good performance, and no time wasted. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
