Figured I'd give one a go. At 14.50 a stick, I was expecting a wow factor especially with the hype behind the Opus X in general. I would be wrong to say everyone definitely has to grab these but this is a really good cigar overall. The quality and craftsmanship of the roll is pretty much flawless. I could easily find a flaw but a 2 minute overview presented a quality top-notch roll. The aroma pre-lit lets you know quickly it will be a very satisfying stick. Cold drag I got a hint of baking spices, coffee, leather and a faint pepper zing on my lips. Now most reviews have 3 stages but I can't say there were from this full bodied snack. Maybe I need a refund on my tastebuds but after the initial light and moved past the pepper welcoming mat, you would think this was a dessert. Not a flavored stick but the tones of cinnamon, almonds, coffee, vanilla, cocoa, Caramel, leather, nougat, and honestly I lost track because I was too busy admiring. Now like my title says, overhyped but really good....I meant that. I was on a goose chase to find any Opus X and finally got my hands on one only for it to match the levels of others but thats my opinion. Would I pay $14 for another? Maybe but if you're looking for a really good cigar and friends suggest this one. Try it. Its worth it for the experience.
