Cigar Reviewed: Liga Privada N0. 9 Pig
Sometimes you don't know until you know....
Bought this Liga Privada #9 Flying Pig a good 90 days ago. Laid it down in my humidor for a nice long nap. Had been saving it to try out for quite some time. Found myself with a free Sunday afternoon yesterday, and with the Celtics on TV, why not.
Before lighting, this stick had a very strong nose of dark chocolate and leather, a positive promise of things to come. The first third was all chocolate and cinnamon (not sweet, but there) It produced lots of smoke and surprisingly was very hot to the touch. Then it was all downhill.
The remainder of the smoke was dismal. Burned very hot and bitter. I tried purging it several times, but to no avail. I've smoked many strong, dark sticks in the past but this one was just plain evil. No matter what I tried, it was bad. I used my nubber at the halfway point to spare my fingers the heat, and got down to the last inch and gave up.
Maybe this was the one bad apple in the bunch, given all the glowing reviews. But for the $20+ it cost, I'll look elsewhere. I have a #9 Robusto waiting in my humidor and I hope it can redeem the brand for me.
