Smoked: H. Uppman Vintage Cameroon toro in tubo

I recently purchased 20 H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon toros in tubos. One cigar had swollen so much in its tube that it was so difficult to pull out that it damaged its wrapper. Ruined. :-(

Yesterday I lit one up only to struggle with the first inch or so staying lit. The flavor was way off when it did manage to burn. Finally, beyond the first inch and a half and multiple re-lights later, the cigar corrected itself, burned fine, and returned to its usual deliciousness.

So, I decided to check the remaining 16 sticks that were still in their tubes. Eight of them, yes EIGHT of them had "squishy" feet, with dark discoloration appearing over the first few inches of their wrappers. What the hell???

It appears they were cellophaned and then put into their tubes over-humidified, i.e. wet. I am quite disappointed with the lack of quality control at H. Upmann.

Hopefully, after some time (how long I don't know) in a humidor with Boveda packs, the excess moisture will dissipate. I left them in their cellophane wrappers, but am wondering if it would be better to remove the cellophane to allow them to more quickly lose the moisture. I frankly don't know if they can be saved.

Please let me know your thoughts. Also, has this ever happened to you with cigars in tubes?
