Micallef Green Gran Toro is recemt edition to the Micallef color series. It’s made with aged Nicaraguan filler, a Mexican San Andres Negro binder and covered in a rosado-hued brown toothy Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper with a few veins.

The cigar opens with a blast of pepper, oak, earth, cocoa, almonds, dark roast coffee and hints of toast and cream. Get into the second third and hints of mineral, herbal and floral notes arrive with slight notes of leather, lemon, licorice and transitions of oak to cedar and toast to rye. Quite interesting with some flavor combinations I have rarely experienced with a Mata Fina wrapper.

Tight draw requiring the Perfect Draw, wonky burn line that eventually evened out witt a couple of touchups, light on the smoke output – I like my cigars to violate EPA regulations, flaky dark grey ash that rarely held past a half inch.

Recently, I’ve had some bad luck with construction on what are otherwise good cigars. Micallef Green is a nice addition to the color series. I do enjoy a Brazilian wrapper. The flavor profile was enjoyable. If only the construction issues weren’t there, I have a feeling I would rate this stick much higher.
