Cigar Reviewed: Macanudo Inspirado Green

Sporting a nice looking green and silver band makes me look forward to this cigar. The pre-light aroma has a hint of ammonia, so I would personally let this sit for a bit longer in the humidor. The light has zero issues and starts off with a medium body with a slight sweetness reminiscent of marshmallow.

As I reach the halfway mark, the nice clean burn line and easy medium draw continue to deliver new flavors. Starting to detect a mild white pepper and milk chocolate. Almost as if I'm drinking hot cocoa with marshmallows on top. This would pair well with a Guinness stout, or a milder dark rum.

Appearing at the last third are more pronounced black pepper notes and deeper caramel flavors. After the retrohale, the cigar leaves a smooth caramel note on the tongue. I could see this being the perfect finish after a bowl of vanilla bean ice cream.

Overall, not too powerful as to overwhelm on an empty stomach, but definitely a better afternoon cigar in my opinion. I would say this is a medium to full bodied smoke, closer to the former. Although it had a slight bitterness for my tastes towards the last third possibly due to not resting long enough in my humidor. I would not hesitate to give the Macanudo Inspirado Green as a part of gift giving for the holidays. Not very sweet, but earthy and interesting.

The Inspirado Green reminds me of the Brazilian Villiger Export, but classier and richer. I enjoyed this with a strong cup of Honduran coffee mid-afternoon and can highly recommend the pairing. With some age, these will be a great way to diversify your palate and enjoy a fine Brazilian wrapped medium bodied, full-flavored blend.
