Cigar Reviewed: My Father Blue
At light up, you’ll definitely get some cedar, some front end black pepper, a floral note, and some brown sugar sweetness.
As you arrive to the first third, the pepper calms down, leaving you with a Hawaiian Bread note, along with a stronger brown sugar note.
Going through the halfway point, cedar picks up a bit, and the sugar backs off a little. Through the retro you’ll get more of the cedar and bread note, but the sweetness and floral notes have left at this point.
Second third arrives and a nice, light raisin sweetness joins the party, taking over as the primary note, while the cedar takes a back seat. Construction is top notch, and burn is perfectly straight, with no touch ups.
Final third reintroduces the Cedar note as the prominent flavor, along with the raisin sweetness joins and a new note…. Espresso. Both are in the background in equal amounts.
Overall, this is a stellar cigar. Construction is top notch, better than most of the cigars out there. This is My Father’s first offering from their new facility in Honduras, and the colors of the bands reflect that of the Honduran flag. This is a box worthy cigar, and didn’t disappoint from start to finish. Is it better than the Judge? In my opinion, yes, by a landslide. But, YMMV, but it’s definitely worth a try.
