Great Evening Smoke

Cigar Reviewed: The Tabernacle Esteli-Nicaragua

Smoked at: Cigar Chateau & Gifts - 3049 N Rock Rd Ste B, Wichita, KS 67226

After a long day at work, I was ready to sit down and relax with a nice long smoke. The Tabernacle Esteli-Nicaragua did not disappoint where this is concerned.

The cigar is a rich, very dark broadleaf wrapped cigar, with a nice Mexican San Andreas binder and fillers from Honduras. On the nose, the cigar had a delicious aroma of dark chocolate. The wrapper gives the cigar a gorgeous dark satin brown with no oily sheen, though the feel does seem to have some oiliness to it. I was excited enough to get into this cigar that I didn’t even do a cold draw.

When first lighting the cigar, I noticed that it produced a dark, thick smoke, that had a nice oily coating for the mouth. Immediately you pick up the dark cacoa and espresso flavor. The cacoa flavoring lasted through the entire cigar with the second third somewhat taming down before picking up nicely to finish out. There were some secondary flavors of earth and cedar that were very subtle. The cigar burned evenly with no touch-ups needed and produced a nice solid white ash. The thickness of the smoke and the draw stayed exceptional for the entire cigar.

I was looking for a nice evening smoke that left a great flavor and wasn’t a challenge to enjoy. This cigar hit all of those expectations plus more. I tend to really enjoy San Andres cigars, and definitely favor them over a broadleaf, but this cigar hit it out of the park with putting them both together in a way that works amazingly. I would highly recommend that if you haven’t taken a chance on this cigar, DO IT.
