Gran Habano Connecticut is made of Nicaraguan filler, a Nicaraguan binder, and an Ecuador Connecticut wrapper. The primary band is gold on white with some green in the coat of arms shield with the Gran Habano logo. The secondary is a green band proclaims the brand with “Connecticut” in gold.

Cedar, earth, grass, mild sweetness, and a dash of pepper. There are occasional hints of lemon citrus during the second third. Fairly balanced despite no complexity – a no frills smoke. Mild in body and strength.

For a straight-forward, budget stick I found the construction impressive – good open draw start to finish, pumped out a nice volume of smoke, burn line was fairly even, and the ash was solid and never dropped until prompted to do so.

I’ve never been much of a Gran Habano fan, but this is a reasonably good cigar for the price. I put in the category of good newbie, training wheels cigar – very basic, mild, Connecticut Shade beginner’s smoke. When you consider the price point, I would recommend the Gran Habano Connecticut over a number of budget cigars for newbies or anyone looking for an inexpensive everyday, knockin’-around cigar.

My rating is based on what this cigar is - a reasonably priced budget stick. So, by that criterion it gets a 4.
