Cigar Reviewed: Florida Man
Smoked at: West Chester, Ohio
Florida Man is a Raymond Pages cigar with a smooth, light brown Connecticut shade wrapper. The band is a tribute to Hemingway’s love of fishing in Key West. Think The Old Man & The Sea. It’s a medium-mild bodied, medium strength cigar.
Sweet initially with mild, subtle spice and pepper, earth, hay and a dash of cream and coffee. Several minutes in it lost almost all flavor.
After a V cut, I noticed a crack near the cap in the wrapper. The wrapper never unraveled, but the cap looked askew. It could be user error, but I have V cut many cigars without this issue using the same cutter, so… Is this why the cigar produced such mininal smoke output and lost flavor? The ash was flaky, although it held pretty well.
I couldn’t finish it so it gets a 1 by my standards. Raymond Pages is being touted as a protégé and the successor to AJ Fernandez. In my opinion, he has a long way to go to achieve that acclaim.

(4 months ago)I'm smoking one of these right now and it's tasty, burning great, plenty of smoke and the draw is spot on. I'm burning through Pages blends and I'm finding they perform and taste well above their low end price point. You should give it another go.
