Flathead v21

Cigar Reviewed: CAO Flathead

I’m a beginner and so not as skilled at detecting nuance. Really tried to pay attention since I’m exploring and trying to find what I really like. Also my first review so here goes. To me this square shape was odd. I guess it is table pressed to get it that way. Ends up I didn’t mind it at all. This has a Mexican San Andres wrap that was dark and slightly oily. Very smooth with small veins and tight seams. Unlit smell was earth and molasses. Honduran habano binder with a blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican ligero filler. Well constructed, though there were a few thick stems, with a surprisingly easy draw considering how tightly packed it appeared. On lighting, flavor was earthy and leather with a hint of fruit. First third continued the leather and earth and fruit replaced by some pepper. Sweetness returned in second third, more molasses than fruit. Final third was consistent with others: leather, hint of pepper, with a slight sweetness of molasses. In spite of the loose draw, this was a long smoke. Overall, this was an extremely enjoyable cigar with medium full body. Definitely adding several to my humidor.
