First and most likely last fire cured stick

Cigar Reviewed: MUWAT KFC Swamp Thang Robusto

I'll preface this review by stating that I'm not an aficionado, but I know what I like and what I don't like. That being said, I've found that most of what i've tried from Jonathan Drew has been in my wheelhouse, so when finding the MUWAT KFC 'Swamp thang' in my Drew Estate sampler, I wasn't going to complain. Upon unwrapping this two-toned stick, the aroma of campfire and bbq where overwhelming... not in a bad way, mind you... but very potent. I had hoped that smokey and rich aroma would come through in the smoke but alas, this 'thang' is all bark and no bite. On the retrohale, I got notes of pepper mostly; None of the promised green grass / green tea from the candela wrapper, none of the hickory or smokehouse fragrances I that wafted out when the cellophane was removed. The draw was pretty decent for most of it, and the ash held on for nearly 2/3 of the cigar. Not sure if it's worth mentioning, but I use a punch rather than a cutter, and i'm not a 'chewer'. Still, halfway through the smoke, the body of the cigar got squishy, which ruined the draw for me. Finally, once I started getting close to the band, there was a slightly chemical / tar taste. If this is indicative of a typical Fire-Cured, I'll say it's not for me. You may find that you enjoy this one, but I'll happily pass. Relegating the three other MUWATs I got in the sampler to my 'give these away' tupperdor.
