Cigar Reviewed: Alfonso
Smoked at: My Backyard
Bourbon - The Backyard Batch 4 9yr 126.5p (Locally distilled and d'lish-us)
Cigar - Alfonso Añejos No.1 (Gift from a bruthafrummanuthermuther)
The pairing was great as the weighty strength of the Bourbon was counterbalanced by the medium boldness of the cigar. I have no doubt that the Alfonso's were bolder in their youth but this one has a few years of in-humidor aging that may have distilled the predicted but unrealized "pepper" component.
Did get lots of pecan/peanutty-ness throughout this smooth experience as well as cedar notes. Only needed 1 relight, due to distractions from my grand dog, and the burn was almost perfect, maybe even "level" worthy.
Smoked it till the draw was just too damn hot.
Great stick for a great day.
