Enjoyable, especially when paired with coffee.

Cigar Reviewed: Macanudo Ecuadorian Shade

I just lit up this cigar. It felt solid, yet spongey, not too dry, and upon cold drawing the cigar, I got notes of pepper and cocoa. This cigar burned evenly, didn't get too hot, and allowed for a very enjoyable smoke, especially when paired with coffee. burn time of this cigar seems good, so far, I am about 15 minutes in, and it has burned just over an inch, just enough for the first ash. I will say, as the cigar rests, the smoke is light and wispy, but after you have taken a draw off of it, the smoke does seem a bit more excessive than most that I have smoked recently, though it calms down after 10 or 15 seconds. It does seem, as I am smoking this cigar, that while I write this, I do have to be careful to not let the cigar sit for more than about 30 seconds, or it seems as though it will want to burn out. The Macanudo Ecuadorian Shade is definitely making me want to give the Sumatra another shot, as I feel that wrapper would pair even better with the coffee. I feel as though I may have been unfair to the Sumatra, due to it being slightly dry upon arrival. Overall, I would definitely purchase this cigar in the future, but beware, if you are new to smoking cigars, the Ecuadorian Shade may be a bit strong and bold for you. This is one you definitely ease in to.
