Smoked: Eiroa Salud Amor Pesetas

Smoked at: West Chester. Ohio

Eiroa Salud Amor Pesetas means Health, Love & Money in Spanish. I’ll drink to that – or smoke to that. It’s a medium-full bodied and strength box-pressed petite robust Honduran puro draped in tissue on the bottom to the foot. The cigar is firm with just a touch of sponginess to the squeeze. I’m sensing superb construction.

Dark, robust, rich tobacco, almonds, mild spice and pepper, occasional notes of dark roast coffee and chocolate – like a chocolate bar, a dried fruit sweetness, musty like a forest floor, leather like a worn baseball mitt, woody – oak, transitioning to more of a cedar taste during the second third. There is quite an array of flavors going on here. Dare I say a Flavor Bomb. It is very well balanced and complex. The retrohale is very spicy.

Solid construction, nice cold draw with some resistance that works well with a short stick, good smoke output, a burn line that went astray for a short time, evened out nicely with one minor touchup.

In one word: DARK describes the Eiroa Salud Amor Pesetas from the wrapper to the cigar band & tissue to the flavors. I can't quite give it a 5, but it's a solid 4-plus.
