Cigar Reviewed: Crowned Heads “Broadway”
Smoked at: st. charles
My first time smoking the Crowned Heads “Broadway,” and this one instantly made an impression. From the first light, it delivers that classic broadleaf punch rich espresso, black pepper, and dark cocoa, wrapped in a thick, aromatic smoke that lingers just right. The draw was perfect from start to finish, with an even burn line and dense flavor output that built in intensity as it went on.
As the cigar warmed up, the spice mellowed beautifully into molasses, oak, and roasted nut tones, giving it a smooth, creamy mid-section that stayed bold without ever losing balance. It’s one of those cigars that feels layered earthy, sweet, and slightly gritty, with each puff revealing something new.
The pairing came courtesy of Upshot Coffee Company, one of Missouri’s top local roasters, known for their craft blends. They offered several options, but the Koyota blend stood out bold, dark, and complex enough to match the Broadway’s power. The coffee started bitter but naturally turned sweet halfway through, bringing out the cigar’s deeper chocolate and molasses notes in a way I didn’t expect.
Overall, the Broadway held its own big flavor, perfect construction, and that signature Crowned Heads edge that keeps you locked in from start to finish. Easily one I’d revisit again, especially paired with a rich black roast.
